Meerane site to become central cable manufacturing hub of the Kistler Group

Meerane, March 2026 – The Kistler Group plans to nearly double its workforce in Meerane from 17 to 32 employees in 2026. The reason for this is the systematic expansion of the site into the central cable manufacturing and competence center for the entire Kistler Group. As an internal supplier, Meerane primarily serves Kistler production facilities in Germany, Switzerland, and the USA, as well as customers worldwide.

At the Meerane site, Kistler’s specialized expertise in all types of cables is consolidated: employees produce around 100,000 cables annually for the Group’s force, pressure, and torque sensors, covering approximately 100 different cable types in lengths ranging from 0.5 to 100 meters. The product portfolio includes highly-insulated ready-fabricated coaxial cables, multi-wire cables, as well as data and sensor cables. These often need to meet special requirements, for example when used in dynamic production environments where they are exposed to frequent bending, abrasion, and repeated motion, while still needing to transmit precise signals without interference. The characteristics such as length, thickness, covering and connector type vary depending on the application. In addition, Meerane also supplies cable components such as connectors directly to production sites at other locations.

The expansion of jobs in Meerane is a deliberate strategic decision: we are specifically investing in growth in order to optimize our production footprint and sustainably concentrate value creation at a high-performance site. Fabian Kienzle, Head of Cable Manufacturing in Meerane, comments: “We are pleased to manufacture all cable-related products at the Meerane site now. The strong local team has built up impressive expertise over more than a decade, benefiting not only the entire Kistler Group but above all our customers. This step would not have been possible without this high level of commitment and the continuous development of our employees.”

The production center of the Kistler Group in Meerane manufactures cables for force, pressure, and torque sensors.
The Meerane production site manufactures cables up to 100 meters in length for the force, pressure, and torque sensors of the Kistler Group on an area of 1,200 square meters.

From in-house measurement technology to a cable competence center

The foundation for the competence center was laid with the acquisition of Baewert Präzisions-Messtechnik GmbH in 2012. Initially, the site focused on the production of valves and measuring devices. Over time, it was gradually restructured toward cable production, and the portfolio was systematically expanded. In October 2019, the competence center relocated from Goethestraße to Guteborner Allee 8, doubling the space available for administration and production. With its expansion into the central cable manufacturing and competence center, the Meerane site continues to grow steadily. “For our production, we are therefore looking for committed employees who enjoy precision assembly work and want to actively shape the future of the site,” adds Fabian Kienzle.
