Quality assurance and process monitoring: Kistler presents advanced solutions at Automate 2024

CHICAGO, May 6, 2024 — Kistler, the global leader in dynamic measurement technology, is shining a spotlight on its game-changing measurement technologies for assembly and automation for automotive production, medical device manufacturing, general industries and semiconductor manufacturing along with plastics injection molding applications at its Automate booth, #1826, May 6–9, at McCormick Place, Chicago.

The approach to quality assurance and process monitoring varies greatly across industries, and even among companies within the same sector. Manufacturers need to tailor their quality checks to the specific demands of their industry, customer needs and the production process itself. To address this challenge, Kistler brings together its expertise in measurement, testing and automation. At Automate, they'll showcase new automated and modular solutions for a precisely coordinated system of process monitoring and quality assurance such as:

  • Measurement solutions consisting of sensors, electronics, systems and services for automation for a future-oriented world that create ideal conditions for Industry 4.0
  • Offering a comprehensive range of cutting-edge joining systems for the force range of up to 700 kN – from compact standardized single modules to custom designs tailored to the customer's specific requirements
  • Providing cross-device and cross-machine synchronization of quality data; simplifies creating customized quality assurance reports
  • Providing process optimization in highly demanding applications: i.e., production of medical devices and equipment; automotive parts
  • Continuously saving data from each cycle, which facilitates comparison and analysis across cycles, giving users a single source of truth (SSOT)
  • Facilitating in-depth injection molding process monitoring; data management
  • Automatically visualizing and analyzing data from machines and process monitoring systems, like Kistler’s maXYmos BL, TL, NC family, ComoNeo and ComoScout
Die neuen Handheld-Ladungsverstärker ermöglichen Datenanalyse direkt an der Maschine.

Easy-to-handle, in-field measurement device with integrated charge amplifier: the handheld charge amplifier 5811A enables users of piezoelectric sensors to carry out process parameter verification and measurements for quality assurance purposes anywhere.

Ensuring process and product quality

Also, featured at the Kistler booth will be key measurement technologies as a part of the entire measuring chain for quality assurance and production process monitoring that revolutionize medical device manufacturing, fuel semiconductor industry growth and empower new energy vehicle production. Kistler engineers and product experts will be available to discuss these practical dynamic measurement technologies for busy and demanding production environments:

  • Handheld charge amplifier 5811A is a mobile measuring instrument with integrated data acquisition that can be used for monitoring transmitters; e.g., Kistler IO-Link devices or any piezoelectric sensor with +/- V analog output. With its integrated touchscreen, it records the measured values and visualizes the measurement curve, enabling users to compare and verify the data from various sensors in situ without dismantling them, saving time and resources.
  • The 5073B charge amplifier for industrial production features a wide measuring range starting as low as 20 picocoulombs. This charge amplifier processes multiple sensor signals, yielding precise data acquisition that can be individually configured. It also monitors threshold values and tracks peak values during production to ensure stable product and process quality and enable operators to identify early-stage warnings of overloading plant components.
  • The small SlimLine 9132CD piezoelectric ring force transducer takes the challenge out of measuring dynamic forces and process monitoring in cramped production environments. It comes with a sealed housing, making it especially suitable for measuring very small tensile and compression forces in industrial applications.
  • STASA QC 2820B is the software developed by Kistler to heighten parameters for injection molding machine processes by optimizing their settings to achieve the best results in quality, manufacturing time and process stability. STASA QC automatically determines the relationship between process parameters and quality characteristics.

The above-mentioned solutions from Kistler interface with the following technologies for digitalization, process monitoring and quality assurance purposes  to enable manufacturers to customize Kistler’s measurement technologies to meet their exact needs:

  • 5028A Miniature industrial charge amplifiers (mICA) with IO-Link, (±1 … 10 V)
  • 5074B Digital industrial charge amplifiers (dICA), 1 to 4 channels, Industrial Ethernet
  • 2162A Electromechanical NC joining module NCFE, servo press for simple, cost-sensitive joining processes; typically as a replacement of hydro-pneumatic or hydraulic systems
  • 2163A Electromechanical NC joining module NCFE, servo press for simple, cost-sensitive joining processes; weight optimized; ideal for robot applications
  • 5877B0 & 2 High-end process monitoring system maXYmos TL for industrial and medical device manufacturing with FDA part 11 compliance
  • cerTEST-B For torque tool testing, analyzes the capabilities of torque tools with up to four integrated simulators ranging from 0.2 to 500 N·m
  • caliTEST It enables the calibration of torque wrenches or tools with an effective length of up to 1,320 mm according to DIN EN ISO 6789
