The Institute of Highway Engineering at Germany’s RWTH Aachen University chose Kistler’s KiTraffic Digital for their pioneering ‘Digital Twin Road’ research project

A7 motorway (Switzerland)

The Traffic and Lake Police of Switzerland’s Thurgau canton rely on the KiTraffic Digital Weigh In Motion (WIM) system – the world's most accurate Weigh In Motion system – to boost the efficiency of commercial vehicle overload inspections at the Kefikon site.
The solution was installed on Switzerland’s A7 motorway at the end of 2020, followed by comprehensive certification in 2021. It was later extended to cover both directions of travel as well as all lanes including the hard shoulders.
By precisely checking the axle loads and total weight (deviation: ≤2.5%) of vehicles moving at speeds between 10 and 130 km/h, the WIM system ensures efficient preselection of overloaded trucks and vans.
