Sensors and systems for automated process control and quality assurance in plastics injection molding
The Industry 4.0. vision has already emerged as a reality in the injection molding sector. This new approach to production always focuses on consistent visualization, digitization and networking of machinery and systems – leading to enhanced product quality and increased cost-efficiency. From the outset, Kistler has played a pivotal role in this development thanks to its sensors and systems.
Our highlights at Fakuma 2017 help you move forward:
The process control system features a tried-and-tested Assistant to define optimum intervention limits, and a guided setting aid to restore the process after a malfunction or machine change. ComoNeo V3.0, the new version, now offers significantly expanded functionality for multi-component molds and sequential injection. Even the most complex processes are easily controlled thanks to user-friendly guidance for operators with integrated Assistants and control algorithms.
At the core of the latest version of this tried-and-tested software solution are attractive new features that make it even easier to network data and improve the traceability of part quality. Networking of process monitoring systems means that all the production parameters can be stored centrally and when molds are changed, this data is easily accessed. ComoData Center 3.0 provides the central data platform for Industry 4.0 production facilities.
Multichannel connector, Type 1722
This new connector – used as the central signal plug on the mold – is simpler to handle because it ensures that single-wire cables are even easier to connect. But that's not all: it also provides better protection against contamination and vibrations. Specified up to 120 °C, this component is also 100% backwards compatible – so as regards installation and connections, the familiar four- and eight-channel design makes it identical to its predecessor.
Type 6185 sensor: insensitive to installation position
This new sensor has a frontal diameter of only 2 mm, making it ideal for use with extremely small components. The type 6185 is specifically designed to prevent falsification of measurement values due to lateral forces. The benefits: greater precision in the injection molding process and simplified assembly.
