New KiRoad Performance

Winterthur, 28 January 2016 – The new KiRoad Performance on-board electronics is a compact, mobile control unit that enables users to configure Kistler RoaDyn® wheel force transducers quickly and reliably. As well as ensuring that measurement data is processed reliably, this unit also supports intuitive wireless operation of wheel force measurement systems on the vehicle and, in future on the test bench.

For over 25 years, Kistler’s wheel force transducers have been setting standards when it comes to measuring vehicle dynamics or durability and tire testing. Now, Kistler is launching the KiRoad Performance: a user-friendly control unit featuring smart configurations and operations that meet todays and future requirements for a flexible wheel force measurement solution.

Fast and Reliable Setup

During system start-up, the KiRoad Performance reads the individual characteristic data for each Kistler RoaDyn® wheel force transducer, automatically detecting the input to which each sensor is connected, ensuring that all sensors are identified and easily parameterized.

Convenient Wireless System Monitoring

The KiCenter software, used by the KiRoad Performance, provides operators with a user-friendly wireless control of all the settings accessible from a mobile device via an intuitive, web-based graphical user interface. The KiRoad Performance and all connected sensors can be controlled from remote, which allows for convenient support and service assistance.

Reliable Signal Processing for Dependable Measurement Data
KiRoad Performance provides the power supply for all RoaDyn® wheel force transducers, and also processes the raw signals from the load cells with crosstalk and lever-arm compensation. The system delivers data in digital and analog form to maximize the accuracy of measurement results.

Jakub Vidner, Kistler's Product Manager for Vehicle Dynamics and Durability, is convinced that measurement of vehicle dynamics as well as durability and tire tests will become far easier and more reliable with this new product: ‘The intuitive configuration and flexible interfaces of the compact KiRoad Performance meet all the requirements for a user-friendly, high-precision measuring platform that can deliver state-of-the-art wheel force measurements.’

Flexible for Use in Confined Spaces
The compact design (199 x 182 x 127 mm) makes the KiRoad Performance easy to install in the vehicle, even when space is at a premium. This cost-efficient solution offers flexible scalability and supports measurements from one to four RoaDyn® wheel force transducers, allowing wheel force transducers to be added or removed at any time. It is also possible to cascade several KiRoad Performance units synchronously. Multiple digital and analog interfaces are provided, offering flexible options for data output, ensuring maximum compatibility with existing systems. Extra analog sensor inputs are provided (two channels per wheel force transducer) enabling users to connect additional sensors (e.g. angle correction sensors or accelerometers) to allow synchronous recording of additional data.
