Outside Sales Representative- Vehicle Safety

Kistler is seeking a sales and application engineer to support the sales of products and services in the automotive vehicle crash test market.  He/she will provide detailed application assistance, technical support and a sales interface for the full range of Kistler products sold into the vehicle crash test market, which include load cells, high speed data acquisition and, new in 2018, the crash test dummy. This will entail frequent visits to automotive OEMs, Tier-One suppliers and independant crash test facilities, which are primarily located in SE MI and other parts of the USA.

Main Tasks:

  • Meets with and gains an understanding of key customer needs and desires and provides technical and sales support for the products sold by Kistler in the vehicle crash test market.
  • Identifies opportunities for sales and new product offerings in the market.
  • Writes technical quotations for sales opportunities in support of the Sales and Application Manager.
  • Supports the introduction of Kistler products with customers through direct on-site support including product installation and training for customer engineers and technicians.
  • Installation and commissioning of defined products for demonstration, service and rental opportunities
  • Gains competitive market analysis information and helps develop sales and marketing strategies for the vehicle crash market sector.
  • Participates at trade shows and follows up on opportunities


Qualified candidates will meet these competencies and requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited four (4) year college; and
  • Three (3) years’ experience in an automotive test and development environment or a similar technical sales role
  • Or ten (10) years’ experience in a similar technical sales role
  • In-depth technical knowledge of automotive crash testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft office products
