Winterthur, 6 July 2017 – Tettnang-based firm eso GmbH (Germany) was acquired by the Kistler Group on July 5. Kistler’s acquisition of a leading player in the portable speed measurement device market promises to offer both parties excellent returns.
New instruments – greater road safety
Since its foundation by Erwin Münz and Reinhold Fischer 40 years ago, the name eso has become synonymous with state-of-the-art traffic enforcement products that meet the highest technological standards. Most recently, eso GmbH launched its new ES 8.0 generation of products, which has been certified in a number of countries. The extremely precise and easy-to-use instruments are valued highly by eso’s clients, including law enforcement agencies and local authorities, for their significant contribution to road safety.
Local company with a global network
The acquisition promises to benefit the two parties considerably: eso GmbH stands to gain from Kistler’s global corporate network, expanding its business operations and opening up new markets. The Kistler Group’s international workforce of 1700 employees provides access to essential structures and processes that can help eso GmbH grow. Gaining access to more than 58 Kistler facilities in over 30 countries effectively boosts eso’s international portfolio. Christoph Münz, the owner and Managing Director of eso, will continue to manage the company with its existing workforce.
Expanded range of products and services
The acquisition of eso not only represents a new prospect for revenue generation in the field of traffic safety and dynamic weight measurement technology for the Kistler Group, but also provides access to decades of experience and stakeholder relationships. "This step enables us to expand our client base and improve our range of products and services for the traffic industry significantly," Rolf Sonderegger, CEO of the Kistler Group, said. The technologies that eso brings to the table will play a central role in the development of future applications.
