The Type 5108A laboratory Piezotron (IEPE) coupler is a small, easy-to-operate device for use with Piezotron (IEPE) sensors with built-in electronics. The primary function of this coupler is to serve as a connecting device between the Piezotron (IEPE) sensor and a data acquisition system, simultaneously providing conditioned power to the Piezotron (IEPE) sensor and a measurement signal to a following voltage input of a data acquisition system. Power is derived externally from a battery or inexpensive, unregulated line-powered DC supply. Internal protection is provided to prevent damage resulting from an improperly connected (reverse polarity) power source. The small size and compact shape of the Piezotron coupler allow for an easy and direct attachment to a voltage input connector of a data acquisition system.
