The strain gauge dummy load cells of the family Type M555A3A are designed to measure forces and a moment in the area of upper neck of the crash test dummy HIII-5% (HF), HIII-50% (H3), HIII-95% (HM), HIII-3-year-old child (Y6), and SID-Iare (S2).

The family Type M555A3 dummy load cells are based on strain gauges using deformation bodies in which the forces and moments to be measured are introduced. To avoid linearity errors, the deformation paths are structurally designed for the measuring use, thus, a very proportional behavior can be realized. The strain gauges applied to these body serves the transformation of mechanical loading to proportional changes in resistance measured by a Wheaton's bridge circuit.
