Bridge protection can be provided by traffic monitoring systems installed directly before or on bridges.
Bridge protection plays a key role in protecting the transport infrastructure. Systems for automatic weight control (Weigh in Motion) are suitable for use before bridges. On the bridge itself, systems such as KiTraffic Statistics and selectively placed sensor technology from Kistler for continuous condition monitoring are used.

  • Application: traffic data collection, staggered layout, 2 sensors per lane (Type 9195G), with Kistler WIM Data Logger
  • Operation: the weight of road vehicles approaching or transiting the bridge is monitored. This generates a record of the traffic load history for the bridge, including time of passage of first axle as well as vehicle classification, weight, length and speed
