The all-new Lineas Digital WIM sensor

Lineas Digital is a highly accurate sensor based on 20 years of proven WIM quartz technology. Because each single quartz is digitized and calibrated, Lineas Digital delivers uniform signals throughout the length of the sensing element. The position of the force signal is used to detect single, dual and flat tires and to compensate road influences for each quartz. And Lineas Digital offers even more benefits: robust digital signal transmission, standardized cabling with Power over Ethernet (PoE), and a proprietary interface to KiTraffic Digital systems.

Quartz crystals

Quartz crystals are at the heart of every Lineas sensor. Up to 50 disk-shaped crystals, the same size as a contact lens, are installed in one sensor. The quartz is processed on special machines at Kistler's headquarters in Switzerland.

Assembly of the sensor

Assembly of the sensor includes installing the cables and sealing the sensor to make it airtight and waterproof. As the final step, the aluminum profile is enclosed in a foam casing that dampens lateral forces.

In-depth inspection

In-depth final inspection of the sensor includes a tightness check and various function tests. Uniform sensitivity throughout the sensor’s entire length is verified with the calibration system.
