What is a camber angle?
The camber angle is a measurement of the centerline of a vehicle’s wheel (and tire) relative to the road surface, provided it is even. It is defined as the angle between the wheel and the car's body. The dynamic camber or contact angle is the angle between the wheel and the road surface during movement (see illustration below). The camber angle is expressed in the value degrees and has a heavy impact on the vehicle’s suspension design, on the grip of the tires as well as on its driving behavior such as steering, braking or acceleration. In passenger cars and trucks as well as racing applications, knowledge of camber angle is imperative.
