Fundamentals of Mold Cavity Pressure and Zero-Defect Production
Cavity pressure in an injection mold is the process parameter that correlates directly with the quality characteristics of the molded part. Mold cavity pressure can therefore be used directly to monitor production and quality. During the injection molding process sensors are used to measure and monitor pressure in the mold. If pressure moves outside the tolerance range, the parts are rejected as soon as the mold is opened. This method of quality assurance enables all molded parts to be checked in a fully automated process. At the same time, quality assurance is fully integrated into the process, thus enabling non-conforming parts to be rejected at the earliest stage possible. ยป Good reasons for cavity pressure measurement
