The Perfect Sensor for Every Process
 With its wide range of products, Kistler has a solution for every injection molding process. These unrivaled pressure/ temperature sensors Types 6189A... and 6190A enable the mold cavity pressure and temperature to be measured simultaneously at the same place. Direct-measuring Kistler sensors (Types 6152A... to 6190C...) are available with frontal diameters ranging from 1 to 6 mm, and can therefore be used for virtually any size of component. When working with abrasive materials, chrome-plated sensors must be used; Kistler can supply these in all today's standard sizes. For special applications where mold temperatures are in excess of 200 °C, high-temperature sensors that can withstand mold temperatures up to 300 °C are available. For a low-pressure application like foam molding, sensors with a measuring range of 0 to 200 bar must be used in order to achieve an optimum resolution (Types 6172A... to 6178A...).

 The mold design or the geometry of the molded part may limit the use of direct measurement of mold cavity pressure. In this case, indirect sensors (Types 9210A... to 9223A...) can be used; these determine pressure by means of measuring force behind an ejector or measurement pin. If certain design guidelines are followed, this measurement method will produce the same results as direct measurement. Kistler can supply an extremely small force sensor with a diameter of just 3 mm, and this can be used with pins with a surface area of down to 1 mm2.

In the case of optical components with a Class A surface, mold cavity pressure is acquired by means of contactless measurement. The steel is measured using a measuring pin ( Type 9247A…), which is mounted a sufficient distance behind the cavity wall. » Sensors
