The new calibration system was manufactured by an established test equipment and systems specialist to a tight yet comprehensive Kistler specification. The new system allows calibration of sensors and systems with heights up to 0,90 m and other dimensions not exceeding 1,60 m. The load ranges extend up to 500 kN in the vertical and 100 kN in the shear direction. The best measurement capability (BMC) is determined for each system force component in the course of calibration traceable back to the national standards. Kistler certificates the calibration of multicomponent sensors. In addition to the calibration values, the certificates list the measurement uncertainty of the calibration now forming part of the standard for force or torque calibration.
Kistler Instrumente AG is accredited under registration number SCS 049 as a calibration center of SAS, the Swiss accreditation body, for pressure, force, acceleration and electric charge measurands. With calibration of test equipment, in-situ calibration, factory recalibration, comprehensive operational testing and wide-ranging certification, Kistler offers a complete service revolving around calibration.
Calibration is a comparative method. Force sensors are loaded with defined and known force values and the related measurements taken by the unit being calibrated recorded. A factory standard and the unit being calibrated are loaded simultaneously and their readings taken. The factory standard is traced back to the national standard by being calibrated against a transfer standard.
