Product Testing

This includes both routine in-process testing in automated production, which is smoothly integrated with process monitoring, and off-line quality control of random samples in the laboratory. Basically almost any sensor can be used for product testing, but smaller and smaller components and integration into production systems increasingly demand high sensitivity in a compact package. Kistler offers a series of sensors with properties that make them particularly suitable for this purpose.

Force sensor for small force

Measuring small forces from 0,001 N
Highly sensitive force sensors with specifically optimized properties are available for measuring small tensile and compressive forces Type 9217A in the range from –500 to 500 N. They are especially suitable for testing switches, plugs and springs.

Our smallest model, the Type 9215, allows sensor arrays to be set up with a grid spacing of only 7.5 mm, for example for testing cellphone keypads.

Reaction Torque Sensor

Measuring small torques from 0.001 N·m
When testing potentiometers, ignition switches, screw caps, etc, very small torques have to be measured reliably and reproducibly. Our calibrated, flexibly adaptable reaction torque sensors Types 9329A to 9389A are ideal for such tasks.
For the simultaneous testing of a reaction torque, combined e. g. with the plug-in or tear-out force, the 2 component sensor Types 9345B to 9365B is suited at best.

Force Links

Tensile forces
The preloaded force links Types 9301B to 9371B particularly lend themselves to measuring tensile forces, for example for testing plunger friction in medical syringes.

maXYmo and CoMo Viw for process monitoring

Process evaluation
When used for product testing purposes the XY monitoring devices control force against displacement or force against time, and for turning or swiveling operations torque against rotation angle or torque against time.

The control units monitor and evaluate the quality of a product or production step on the basis of a curve. They achieve this by recording in relation to each other all of the measurands that can be measured with piezoelectric or strain gage sensors on the Y-channel, and with potentiometric sensors on the X-channel.

The new, very reasonably priced, high-performance maXYmos BL Type 5867A as well as the familiar versatile ControlMonitors CoMo Net Type 5863A1 and CoMo View Type 5863A2 are available for this purpose.
