Structural Analysis with FEM and Modal Analysis

FEM (Finite-Element-Method)

The strain on measurement technology components and the directly affected mounting components is analysed during the development phase and specifically optimised to the relevant requirements. The purpose of the strength calculations is to preclude any failure of the measurement technology components under subsequent operating conditions. This method makes it possible to achieve maximum service life under the relevant conditions with the minimum use of materials. Optimisation is extremely important with measuring wheels - for example in order to prevent the behaviour of a vehicle and the measurement data from being distorted with the substitution of rim/tire for measuring wheel/rim/tire.

Modal analysis

Modal analysis is an experiment method of investigating the oscillation behaviour of component structures. It is used to record, analyse and evaluate natural frequencies and oscillation forms and to optimise component structure. For example, the simulation of frequencies that affect components of a force measurement platform can be used to determine the natural frequencies of the measurement system in relation to mass, rigidity and damping. The aim of modal analysis is to design the measurement system in such a way that, during the recording of data, no resonance oscillations occur in a given frequency range that could distort the measurement signal.
