Melt Pressure Measurement

In view of recent developments in the area of electric injection molding machines, melt pressure measurement has gained key importance, as classic control parameters such as hydraulic pressure are no longer available. As sensors measuring the current force in the injection unit are located at a distance from the mold, they are not as suitable for accurate control functions as direct melt pressure measurement in the screw antechamber. Type 4013B... sensors (details on request) provide fast high-precision measurements that meet all the requirements of electric injection molding machines. Piezoresistive sensors, which can be used for pressures of up to 3 000 bar and temperatures of up to 350 °C, provide detailed process information and are also suitable for process monitoring on hydraulic machines.

Further areas of application for these sensors include pressure measurement in hot-runner systems. In addition to pressure monitoring in the hot-runner, the acquired information can be used for control purposes. The sensor can be equipped with a temperature measurement feature for determination of the melt temperature directly on the sensor's measuring component.
