One important component of the measuring chain is the quartz sensor, whose extremely wide measuring range is complemented by its absolute long-term stability, high natural frequency, extreme rigidity and hence comfortable factor of safety against overload under temperature regimes up to 350ºC.
Its key function of highly accurate measurement of strip flatness is translated in a "charge amplifier" into valuable information for the automation system. This amplifier converts the charge of the piezoelectric measurement signal into a voltage proportional to the force acting.
