Efficiency in Detail (Innovations)

With the KiBox, Kistler has transferred its own technological expertise into an integrated portable combustion analysis solution. Key processes such as adaptation of sensors to the engine, data acquisition and evaluation are significantly improved thanks to our intensive and detailed development work.

CrankSmart®

CrankSmart® –
Reliable data quality

In order to optimize the quality of measured data in an in-vehicle combustion analysis system in transient engine operation and where severe torsional vibrations are present, Kistler experts have been working alongside FKFS (Research Institute of Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Engines Stuttgart) to develop the innovative and time-saving CrankSmart process. KiBox does not depend on a particular crank angle sensor, rather it generates the reference to the crank angle and TDC by using the standard engine speed sensor rotor.

Interfaces –
More flexibility

The KiBox is compatible with the usual application environments encountered on the market. The application engineer initiates the important commands such as "Load Parameters", "Choose Results", "Control Measurements" and "Save Data" in the familiar environment (e.g. INCA). A timestamp ensures the timing of all measured and calculated data from the KiBox and INCA is correctly displayed.

Determination of TDC
Combustion analysis results are of considerable assistance in modern engine applications. Most of these results are heavily dependent on correct relation of the variation in combustion chamber pressure to the crank angle.
