Indirect Sensors

Force sensor within mold

A maintenance-free sensor installation and a smooth ejector movement ensure reliable measurement signals. An accurate sensor hole is therefore important. Moreover, the sensor must be installed without any preload and must match the ejector pin. This ensures an optimal transfer of the force acting in the cavity.

Sensor Type 6211B

Indirect sensors are installed with thrust washers to provide a precison bearing surface. Use of a spacer plate allows a simplified installation.

Machining of the sensor hole and the installationprocedure are explained using Sensor Type 9211B...:

Important Areas of Sensor Hole

The following notes for must be observed:

Important Areas of Sensor Hole

  1. Hole with H7 tolerance to center sensor
  2. Sensor contact surface blind hole shown must be flat and perpendicular
  3. Sensor must clear this surface
  4. Surface lower than or level with sensor end face

Mounting of indirect sensors

Hole for Sensor and Thrust Washer

The included thrust washer should always to installed. This ensures a flat bearing surface.

Mounting Bore

Sensor Hole
Mill hole with H7 tolerance in the ejector plate. Ensure the blind hole is sufficiently deep to accommodate the thrust washer. Check centering and alignment. The sensor cable connection must not rest on steel. The ejector pin axis must be at right angles to the sensor surface.

Mounting of sensor

Installation
Fit sensor with thrust washer. The sensor must lie flat and may stand proud. Ensure a clearance of 0,03 – 0,05 mm between sensor face and ejector head. This prevents the sensor from being preloaded.

Hole for Sensor in Spacer Plate

A spacer plate simplifies mounting of several sensors in a symmetrical layout. This method is a practical way of maintaining the required installation tolerances when multiple sensors are fitted in an ejector plate.

Mounting bore

Sensor Hole
Mill sensor hole and slot in the spacer plate. Grind all of the surfaces of the ejector plates and spacer plate. The bearing surfaces must be smooth and flat. The axis of the ejector must be at right angles to the sensor face.

Mounting with spacer plate

Installation
Fit sensor into hole of the spacer plate. The sensor must be mounted squarely. Its surface may stand proud. Ensure a clearance of 0,03 – 0,05 mm between sensor face and ejector head. This prevents the sensor from being preloaded.
