Applications

2212_OfflineDiagnostic.jpg

Straightforward solutions need to be provided for stationary or even periodic engine diagnostics. The particular requirements dictate two approaches:

1. Sensor mounted on indicator cock
This widespread method for large engines is adequate for measuring simple parameters such as peak pressure.

2. Sensor mounted close to combustion chamber without indicator cock
Mounting as close as possible to the combustion chamber is necessary as soon as more involved parameters, such as indicated mean effective pressure or 50% mass fraction burned, have to be determined. This approach not only allows a higher level of accuracy to be achieved, but the closeness of the coolant jacket also often significantly reduces the thermal load on the sensor.
