Press-fit
|
Press fitting is a commonly used method of joining. Subsequent non-destructive testing of the connection can only be achieved with difficulty. In-process testing therefore becomes almost unavoidable. The mutually dependant measurands, for example pressing force and displacement, are recorded and their functional relationship evaluated. The result can be used to separate bad parts for reworking or to divide the production into different tolerance classes.

Pressing forces
can be measured directly with the preloaded pressing force sensors Type 9313... or Types 9323A to 9393A within the range from a few N to 1000 kN. The ease of assembly and the 3 calibrated ranges allow measurement over several orders of magnitude with the same sensor.

|
Joining forces can also be measured and monitored indirectly via the strain of the machine's frame.
|
Various easily mounted strain sensors Type 9232 or 9237 are supplied for this.

Process evaluation In, for example, press-fit processes, the XY monitoring devices control force against displacement or force against time. The control units monitor and evaluate the quality of a product or production step on the basis of a curve. They achieve this by recording in relation to each other all of the measurands that can be measured with piezoelectric or strain gage sensors on the Y-channel, and with potentiometric sensors on the X-channel. The new, very reasonably priced, high-performance maXYmos BL Type 5867A as well as the familiar versatile ControlMonitors CoMo Net Type 5863A1 and CoMo View Type 5863A2 are available for this purpose.

General Joining and Press-In Monitoring The single-channel force/displacement measuring system Type 4737A... was especially designed for the application in plants and systems with joining processes. The data exchange with possible extern visualization is done per Ethernet. The coupling to the unit is done by via fieldbus or corresponding control inputs. Continuity to the previous devices of the DMF-P series was maintained and extended by additional functions. Desktop, panel mount and wall mounted variants each offer optimum access to connectors and wiring - Connection of piezo, strain gage and force sensors with voltage output as well as potentiometric, SSI or incremental position sensors. Broad range of sensors thanks to modular design.
- 30 freely combinable evaluation functions for monitoring the assembly cycle, thread-in force, final position and overloading. Additional measurement and evaluation of the process speed and the measuring curve slope.
- Internal memory for measuring curves and measuring results.
Direct generation of the industrial Q-DAS data protocol of the automotive industry AQDEF (Automotive Quality Data Exchange Format) and of the I.-P.M. data format for the automated creation of product-related process and measuring data. The DMF-P A400 advanced Type 4733A... contains two independently operating channels and is used in lines and systems with several joining processes. By linking up to four units it is possible to expand the system to a maximum of 8 independent operating channels.
